State Zoo authority and Guwahati Refinery officials with Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya during the MoU signing ceremony, on Thursday. – UB Photos GUWAHATI, Jan 2 - The Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden and Guwahati Refinery today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for procurement of the ‘hydroponics system’ and for development of other infrastructure at the zoo.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya and senior officers of the Assam Forest Department and Guwahati Refinery. With respect to the CSR grants, the Assam State Zoo will receive an amount of Rs 31 lakh.
The hydroponic system is a modern method of cultivation under which plants are grown in water.
The State Zoo is expected to produce up to 1,200 kg of fodder grass everyday under this system, which will then be used for feeding the herbivores at the zoo.
