GUWAHATI, Jan 30 - Guwahati witnessed a unique fashion extravaganza featuring prominent choreographers and models of the country. The show, held at Shilpgram, Panjabari here on January 28 and 29, highlighted new trends of the industry as well as the traditional heritage of the country, according to a press release issued today.
Ace fashion exponent, Prasantt Ghosh, who is the organiser of the 5th season of the fashion event North East Fashion Week, said that its main theme this year was ‘Fashion for All’. The message of the event was ‘Shelter for animals’.
The show was inaugurated by Dr Sukamal Deb, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (NE Zone) in-charge of the Khadi Village Industries Commission, as chief guest. Col Niraj Bakshi, Co7 Assam BN NCC, Dhubri; Alok Sarkar, CEO of Ajitaksh Ventures and Monoj Das from Sufalam Streets attended the programme as special guests.
Since its inception in 2015, the event has been associated with various social themes. People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was part of it in the first season. Women empowerment, eye donation and support to elderly people were part of the previous social themes.
Speaking about the event, designer Ghosh said, “The theme of the event is fashion for all, it has a platform for everyone. This is organised to upgrade the North East fashion industry.”
