Organization Structure
The control, administration and the management of the Council are vested with the Governing Body, appointed by the Govt. of Assam. The Chief Minister of Assam is the Chairman of the Body and the Commissioner and Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Science Technology and Environment (STE) Dept., is the Vice-Chairman. The Director, appointed by the State Govt., is the Head of the Council and is responsible for day to day administration and implementation of the programs. The Council has four divisions viz., Environment, Energy, Science and Technology and Remote Sensing (Assam Remote Sensing Application Centre). The Energy division is promoted to an agency, during 2002-03 primarily to boost application of renewable energy as well as energy conservation under MNES, Govt. of India in the state under one umbrella.
