 World Environment Day 2015- Celebrated by ENVIS Centre-Assam

A sensitisation programme to commemorate the World Environment Day 2015 was held at Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Hengerabari, Guwahati on 5th June, 2015. The programme was organised by ENVIS Centre-Assam, Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC) Guwahati. The programme was attended by students and teachers, local residents and environmental activists.

 

The theme of WED 2015 was “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet.” A booklet was published on the theme in Assamese language and distributed among all.

 

 

 

The programme started with a tree plantation programme by the teachers and the ENVIS personnel. Drawing Competition was held amongst the children of the school. Manisha Sarmah from ENVIS Centre-Assam stressed on the preservation and conservation of the environment for our future generations. An interaction programme with the students on various environmental issues of Assam was organized by Samiran Kalita and Utpal Das from ENVIS Centre Assam. To popularise the basic objectives of the ENVIS Centre, ENVIS Newsletters were distributed amongst the participants.

 

The programme concluded with the distribution of saplings amongst the students and teachers as well as local residents.
